Conflict Syria Spreads to Turkey Border



Violence in Syria reportedly continued to expand, after Syrian troops reportedly engaged in a clash with rebels near the border of Syria and Turkey.


"The clashes occurred on the outskirts of the village of el-Joz Khirbel which borders Turkey. Government troops using armored vehicles had already been deployed to the village long before the clashes took place," said human rights monitoring group based in the UK as quoted by the Associated Press Friday , (13/04/2012).


Meanwhile a Local Coordinating Committee (LCC) said that armored vehicles were deployed to the nearby village of Khirbet el-Joz, where security forces are trying to attack the rebels.


"There was intense gunfire in the village of Khirbet el-Joz," said LCC.


Previous incidents had also occurred in the Syrian-Turkish border, after firing into refugee camps by Syrian troops. As a result of this incident two Syrian refugees were killed while 23 others were injured.


Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan himself has asserted that the Syrian army action is a form of border violations very seriously.


Until now, the Syrian government failed to fulfill its commitment to valued peace initiative at the UN special envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan.
