Religious Freedom in Indonesia as the U.S. Highlights

Indonesia in a group with Afghanistan, Belarus, Cuba, India, Laos, Russia, Somalia, Sudan, and Venezuela in terms of related violations of religious freedom.

Similarly, according to an annual U.S. government report to be released on Tuesday (3/20/2012), but has acquired the news agency The Associated Press (AP) on Monday. U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) in its annual reports that categorize Indonesia and nine other countries in the list of controls that need careful monitoring because the government is doing or allowing freedom of religion-related offenses.

The report also mentions, there are 16 other countries that are categorized as countries with special attention. Included in this group, two U.S. allies, namely Turkey and Tajikistan, due to "systematic and terrible limitations" related to religious freedom. Turkey and Tajikistan was part of a total of 16 countries listed by the commission as the country with special attention.

Turkish ambassador to Washington, Mamik Tan, has denied the commission's assessment and said it could not be justified. "Every eye that no bias will soon realize that Turkey should not enter the USCIRF's annual report," Tan told The Associated Press.

The report criticized Turkey for organizing groups of non-Muslims by limiting how they should train their religious leaders, offering education, and confiscate places of worship.

The U.S. Congress established the commission in 1998 to prepare reports that can be used by presidents, foreign ministers, and members of the country's parliament.

In addition to Turkey and Tajikistan, the report also includes Myanmar, North Korea, Egypt, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, China, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam in the same category.

Although the commission recommends action to be taken by the U.S. Government encourages improvements in religious freedom in various countries, the U.S. State Department's list typically pursing a smaller group that should receive special attention in its own annual report neighbors for religious freedom. Those countries could then be penalized.

As a NATO ally, Turkey stand out among the other countries named by the commission. However, the report seems to conflict with the U.S. State Department assessment of Turkey. When the department released a report last year, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton praised Turkey for taking "serious steps to improve the climate of religious tolerance."

"NATO Missile Not Used to Protect Israel"

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said the missile defense system of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Turkey is not designed to protect Israel.

"The whole statement saying that the European missile defense system in Turkey is designed to protect Israel is a black propaganda concocted by Israel itself," said Gul, told Trend, Thursday (15/03/2012).

Gul also asserted, Israel is not a member of NATO, therefore, may not protect Israel despite NATO missile defense system in place in Turkey. Gul also explained that NATO missiles in his country not used to attack Iran.

Decisions regarding the placement of NATO missile defense system in Turkey was initiated in the NATO Summit in Lisbon in 2011 and then, Turkey was very supportive of this move. Meanwhile, the placement of the radar in military bases Kurecik NATO, Turkey was signed by Deputy Foreign Minister Feridun Sinirlioglu and Turkish Ambassador to the United States for Turkey, in Ankara in September 2011.

United States - Israel joined to attack Iran

U.S. officials increasing warnings that the superpower could have joined with Israel in attacking Iran if the Islamic republic does not intend to eliminate the anxiety that its nuclear research program aimed at producing weapons.

Thursday (3/1/2012), or four days before Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, scheduled to arrive in Washington to meet with President Barack Obama, the U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. Norton Schwartz, said the Joint Chiefs of Staff has prepared an option military to attack Iran's nuclear sites if a conflict occurs. "What can we do, you will not want to be in the area," said General Schwartz.

Schwartz's statement is different from a White House statement a day earlier. The White House on Wednesday, warned that any military action against Iran would create "greater instability" that could threaten the safety of citizens of the United States in Afghanistan and Iraq. "Any military action in the region threatens the greater instability in the region," said White House spokesman Jay Carney. According to Carney, so far, the U.S. had no evidence that Iran is developing nuclear weapons.

But Pentagon officials, as quoted in the Washington Post, said the military option is being prepared, starting with providing refueling aircraft to Israel, including attacking the pillars of the clerical regime and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and the elite Qods force , military bases and the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security. U.S. officials did not want his identity revealed because the Pentagon plans were kept secret.

"No group in America who is more determined to prevent Iran from reaching nuclear weapons than the Joint Chiefs of Staff," said Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey told the Congressional Budget Committee on Wednesday.

Separately, a U.S. official who requested anonymity told The Washington Post that U.S. military planners increasingly convinced that the ongoing attacks with bunker-buster bombs to bury the U.S. Air Force of Iran's uranium enrichment plant in Fordo.

Recent warnings about possible U.S. military action against Iran came after a meeting between high officials of Israel and the Obama administration failed to resolve differences about when an attack needs to be done, according to officials of both countries who have participated in the discussion. "Because, in the minds of Israel, and more importantly in the minds of Iran, there is uncertainty about the desire of the government to act. it's imperative that we not only say all options are on the table, but also showed that in some way open," Party members said Rebulik of Michigan, Mike Rogers, who heads the Intelligence Committee of Congress.

The main difference between the U.S. and Israel, U.S. officials said, is a matter of where to draw the line on Iran's nuclear program. Obama administration officials have said the trigger for military action should be a decision of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to enrich uranium beyond the current 20 percent level, which supports nuclear power plant, to manufacture weapons at level 85 or 90 percent.

The U.S. and Israeli intelligence officials said they agreed that such decisions are difficult to detect at a time after the guns have been made.

While their American counterparts to focus on enrichment, Israeli officials describe Iran's nuclear program as a three-legged stool that also includes a number of efforts in different locations to develop a missile warhead capable of carrying nuclear weapons, a nuclear explosion triggers and other components of nuclear devices . Although Israeli officials told the Americans that their ability to attack Iran is greater than many people thought, Iran's enrichment facility at Natanz and Fordo will be very difficult for the Air Force to destroy Israel with their weapon, GBU-28.

"Islamic-Christian dialogue" Finding common ground between the two religions

By reading the holy book together, Christian and Muslim women try to look for
common ground between these two heavenly religions. Is this the way the women of
the two religions commemorate International Women's Day? And how they are
addressing the difference?

About ten people were Christian and Muslim women were facing each other at the
central cafeteria Protestant Christian Church in Utrecht, Netherlands. They are
participants in the dialogue between Islam and Christianity are taking a break
while enjoying dinner with Indonesian cuisine, Radio Netherlands reported,
Thursday (03/08/2012).

Professor Syafaatun Mirzana, an Indonesian Islamic scholar, who participated in
the dialogue, recognizing that Christianity and Islam are different, but not
necessarily contradictory. Then how do they read the Bible together? "Reading is
in the sense we understand each other between each other," he said. Because both
the Christian and Islamic holy book, there are similar stories. This was
attempted to be photographed together, he added.

"For example, the problem of creation (creation). In Surat al-Baqarah told us
how Adam was created. Then Genesis in the bible also talks about the creation,"
said the professor who is now a visiting professor in America.

Not only texts in the Koran are discussed and sought-after comparison with the
Christian scriptures, but also the traditions of the Prophet. And the theme is of
course not limited to the issue of creation. For example, the topic of women.
"How can women be discussed in their respective holy books."

Mutual Respect

Organizers of this dialog is Dr. Ge Speelman, university lecturer in the Dutch
Protestant theology. As Syafaatun he admitted that the two religions are
different and the purpose of dialogue is not to make everyone embrace one
religion only. Then what is the purpose of dialogue? "To learn to respect each
other. It's hard to happen, if we do not know each other and direct dialogue, so
we respect the differences," he said.

He added that if the dialogue does not happen immediately, then you'll enjoy the
difference and become involved in mutual recrimination. Impact, a difference not
only exaggerated, but plus-plus.

Lecturer in religious knowledge is added, the women differ with him in dialogue.
"Because women are more social. Women always talk about the social life of their
children. As such dialogue would be fruitless," said the woman who claimed
frequent visitor to Indonesia.

Both women agree that the role of religion is very important. Quoting Hans Küng,
Swiss theologian, who said, if there is no peace between religions there can be
no peace in this world. Therefore, religion can not be eliminated, the two vertices.

Syafaatun added, it now adds an important role of religion, at least the study of
