The protest resulted in violence in Spain. The protesters destroyed the windows and lit a fire in a building in Barcelona.
Protests demanding economic recovery in the second largest city in Spain was initially carried out peacefully. However, all of a sudden riot during a strike that shut down the entire plant in the city.
The situation worsened when protesters threw stones at the bank in the city. They also lit a fire in a cafe and other shops destroyed. So reported the Associated Press on Friday (03/30/2012).
As a result of these events, the city's transport system was paralyzed. While the operation of the hospital were also unable to function properly.
The protests also took place in the capital Madrid and several other cities in the land of Matador. They oppose government plans to raise taxes and use it for state purposes.
Until now, approximately 176 protesters were arrested across Spain. While 104 others reportedly injured in the riots, 58 people including police officers. There has been no reported serious injuries or deaths.
