Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to make sure it will continue to defend Syria, as the country's anti-Israel. It is delivered when receiving the visit of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Principles held by Khamenei was very opposed to Turkey. So far, Turkey is very opposed to the violence in Syria. PM Erdogan government has even recalled its ambassador residing in Syria. "Iran will defend Syria for its support for anti-Zionist movement," said Khamenei was quoted as saying Israel National News, Friday (30/03/2012).
In addition, Khamenei also balked at foreign intervention in Syria, but at the same time Khamenei urged the reform process in Syria can be done immediately.
In a meeting with Khamenei, Erdogan had stated that the conditions in the Middle East are now in difficult conditions with the conflict in Syria.
"Turkey hopes tough conditions facing the region (Middle East) can be overcome," said Erdogan.
Khamenei also warned the U.S. to refrain from any initiative to try to solve the conflict in Syria. He said Iran will reject initiatives that are hard.
Erdogan arrived in Tehran on Wednesday, March 28 and then in an official state visit. When meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Turkish Prime stated its support for Iran's nuclear ambitions.
Regarding the sanctions that surround Iran, Erdogan criticized the external pressure on Iran to develop its nuclear program.
"No party has the right to impose sanctions against anyone who develops nuclear power, for the sake of peace," Erdogan said.
